Why Resist Immense Harmful Forces?

Why resist immense harmful forces?
If we fight, we might lose.
If we don’t fight, we have already lost.

What forces? Common Core State Standards. No Child Left Behind. Race to the Top. Active and retired teacher pension raids. High stakes, high pressure testing with a 70% failure rate. Mass public school closings. Privatized charter schools. ALEC written legislation. Teacher evaluations based on flawed tests. Etc. Etc.

Who and what forces both finance and profit from all of the above? The Eli & Edythe Broad Foundations. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The Walton Family Foundation. The John Arnold Foundation. Pearson. Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. and Wireless Generation. The inBloom data mining corporation. UNO Charters. Gulen and Concept Charters. The Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education. The Pritzker Traubert Foundation. All of the owned legislators who do the bidding of these corporations and their CEOs. Etc. Etc.

These are immense harmful forces. Their purposes are money and power.

We, on the other hand, love and care for the well being of our children, and all children are our children. We are the caregivers.

We must be part of the Resistance.

Refuse to be a willing victim. Refuse to allow our families and friends to be victimized.

CheckmateBy the way, to legally refuse/opt-out/ stop high stakes testing, whatever the corporate brand name is in your state, go to the United Opt-Out site for directions HERE.

For a clear list and explanation of Corporate Reformers, read chapter 3 of the brilliant Diane Ravitch’s Reign of Error: The Hoax of the Privatization Movement and the Danger to America’s Public Schools. To order the book, go HERE.
